About Dovetail Trail Consulting

Like the woodworking joint it's named after, dovetail represents strength, durability, and unity—joining separate pieces to create something lasting and resilient.

At Dovetail Trail Consulting, we apply that same principle to trail access. Rapid advancements in off-road mobility technology for hiking and biking have led to a diverse range of devices, each offering unique capabilities and addressing different user needs. These innovations are creating new opportunities for individuals for the first time in history, allowing families and friend groups with and without disabilities to explore trails together.

Our work is grounded in a comprehensive and sustainable approach. We emphasize the integration of current legal frameworks—including the Wilderness Act, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and Architectural Barriers Act (ABA)—into meaningful, varied and inclusive trail experiences.

We don’t just identify barriers—we provide tools, education, and strategies to remove them. By combining lived experience, technical expertise, and collaborative engagement, we empower land managers, trail builders, and communities to create outdoor spaces that welcome everyone.
